Exploring Line

Image
I used a pencil to draw both of my hands, i then traced them with marker. Using my less doinant hand wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but i felt I was able to make small details like my finger shapes more visible with my dominant hand. I would try to use my less dominant hand to create art in the future, sinve its less structured than forming letters to write. I'm interested to see what I would come up with.
Module # 8-  More Human than Human  This video basically explains the art we see everyday all around us how, and how the artist back then created a visual legacy which helped shape our own perception on art.  The struggles of early artist lead to the triumph of some of the worlds greatest civilizations. Egyptian art for example, was some of the first forms of art to depict humans with unusal body features, much like pieces of the human body today. Most "Venus" figurines were the same shape because t he brains of the hunters who made the figurines were pre programmed to exaggerate features that meant the most. They were living in s harsh ice age environment features of fertility and fatness would've been highly desirable well.  The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and the Human Figure I chose this video because i love Greek Philosophy and Greek Art. I believe Greece was one of the forefathers of art. As they had many different forms of artwork, from t...

Video Review

Video #1 When looking at marble statues it never came to mind the amount of thus artist have to take into consideration before creating the piece. For example,  how fragile the marble might be, h ow resistant is it to changing whether climates (is it going to be indoor or outdoor?), or how far will the marble extend so that their vision is able to come to life. The artist starts forming the piece with clay to get a visual start of what they visualized. Once they've made any finishing touches plaster is applied to help preserve the piece. This was an educational film and I learned a lot about the hardwork that sculpting requires. I found the video to be inspirational and I now have a greater appreciation for the art of sculpting, and the individulas who decide to persure this craft.  Video #2 Who knew glass was made from sand? Yet it has different properties than sand. Making glass is a long process that includes using fire to strengthen its properties. Its no...

Peer Project Review

Peer#1 Peer #2 When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elemts and principles in the images?  When looking at Peer #1 I do agree with the elemtnts and principles used and she photographed each image in a creative way. I actually enjoyed looking at her images. When looking at Peer#2 I noticed she used more literal images to represent each element and principle like I did with my project.    When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own? None of the images from either project was the same as mine because I visted a different museum.  Were there any images that your Peers selected that pique your interest now? If yes, what are they and what is your connection with them? What would you want to know about them? (...

The Met Visit

Aliyah Jackson   FUNDAMENTALS OF ART INQUIRY   Project #2    A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?      First, I want to express my experience examining the ' Deli rious : Art at the Limits"  exhibit  at the Metropolitan Museum of  Art. D ivided  into four sections, v ertigo, e xcess, n onsense, and  t wisted,  Delirious  explores  and  embrace s the feelings  of irrationality among  people around the world,  and  I  would say as I  moved through the exhibit the works of art  definitely became more  ba zaar . But   overall  I enjoyed it and would recommend anyone who is in  to  dark  and   avante   garde  art   to  visit  it.       Ana Mendieta,  Untitled  (Glass on Body Imprints-Face' (1972),  made an impression on me because it was so ou...
